Hurry Up Chicken Butt – Family Review

Game night lands at our place every Friday, and the mission is always the same: find something new that keeps Cassie (10), Vivi (8), and little Elliot (6) entertained. Enter Hurry Up Chicken Butt—a frantic, hot-potato-style board game where a noisy chicken, a ticking timer and a heap of silly challenges keep the kids giggling nonstop.

How It Works

Each player starts with a coloured “nest” mat (we wrote our names on them for future rematches). Three activity cards – one purple, one blue, and one green – sit face-up in the middle. Before the chaos begins, read the cards aloud so everyone knows exactly how to flap, spin, cluck or hop when the colour pops up.

Hurry up chicken butt

The youngest player presses the button on the bottom of the chicken, gives it a good shake and plonks it in their nest. The chicken’s built-in die shows a colour (matching the cards in the middle). The player must complete that colour’s activity fast, then pass the chicken to the next nest. All the while the timer inside the chicken is counting down… and nobody knows when it’ll blow!

Land on the chicken-butt icon? Shout “Hurry up, chicken butt!” and sprint to tap the special Chicken Butt Challenge card you’ve hidden somewhere in the room (you get to change where this is every game for some added fun). When the timer finally clucks, whoever’s holding the chicken loses, and the player just before them wins.

Rounds are lightning-quick, about two minutes each, so kids can reset and replay endlessly.

Why We Loved It

  • Instant laughter – Elliot was in stitches after his very first pat stomach and head at the same time challenge. I lasted two rounds before surrendering the floor to the kids, who kept playing (and cackling) for nearly an hour.
  • Big on movement – Perfect for burning pent-up energy: hopping, twirling, crab-walking, whatever the cards demand. Brilliant for screen-free rainy-day exercise.
  • Friendly for littlies – With only three active cards to remember and a chunky chicken shaker, even little kids can join without needing constant adult help.

Parent Tips

  • Read the cards first – A quick run-through of each activity equals smoother, faster rounds.
  • Clear some space – There will be racing, spinning and “flap like a chicken” moves; coffee tables beware.
  • Check batteries – The timer/chicken runs on 2 × AAA (not included).

Hurry Up Chicken Butt is pure, silly fun. If your crew loves lightning-fast rounds, physical challenges and random chaos, this game will be a feather-flapping hit. Just make sure you’re not the one left holding the chicken when it clucks its final cluck!
