Got a group coming over for dinner? Or simply looking for something a little extra to add to that party table? A DIY dessert board is the way to go. And the best part? You really can’t go wrong with it! We share some inspiration from this amazing dessert board, so you can have some fun creating your own.
Delicious Merengues
You really can’t go wrong with mererengues. They are just perfect for a DIY dessert board, as they can be topped with a number of different things. It means everyone can find something they love.
Not confident on cooking the treats yourself? There are so many store-bought options out there (just head to Coles!). While you’re there, pick up this jar of Lemon Curd that you see pictured. It goes so well, with your choice of fruit on top.
Mix Up The Toppings
Don’t stop there, by having a variety of different toppings, your guests are sure to find something they love. Whip up some cream, add a bowl of jam, and scoop out some Nutella into a bowl. All these ideas are so easy to do, and require very little effort from you. Guests can have fun putting together a tasty dessert for themselves with so many different options.
Fill the DIY Dessert Platter
Now that you have all the toppings sorted, it’s time to have some fun with the platter. Here’s some ideas of what to fill it up with:
- Biscuits: you can bake these yourself, or simply find the gourmet variety at a specialty shop (or just from the supermarket).
- Fruit: you can’t go wrong with fruit. Think blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and anything else that takes your fancy.
- Chocolates: for those who don’t want to create a dessert, or just want to add to it, chocolate is a great option! These individually wrapped Lindt chocolates work well, as you can choose the colour to suit your theme (and not have to worry about chocolate melting all over your board).
- Nuts: of course, check for allergies first, then top up with nuts! Peanuts, macadamias… so many types will work well with this platter.
