Celebrating a milestone birthday doesn’t mean going all out! Theo turned one during the COVID lockdown, so had a quiet affair at home, with some gorgeous photos to remember it. Here’s how you can pull together your very own cake smash.

The balloons and ‘Happy Birthday’ are both from Woolworths. They have an awesome party section!

The bunting was handmade by Theo’s clever mum. You can also get ready-made ones from Amazon. Find more ideas for party decor here.

The ONE letters are from Spotlight. They simply can be painted any colour you like. You can also grab these one boxes and fill them up with balloons to make a cute little backdrop!

Now for the fun party of any cake smash, to bring in the cake and let your little one enjoy!

Tips for your Cake Smash

  • Be sure to set up the cake smash in an area of your home that gets lots of light. This will help with the photos.
  • Take a few test photos before the cake comes out. This will help you set up the camera before the mess begins.
  • If your little one is hesitant at first, dive in and help them out. Trust us, after one bite oft he cake, they will be going back for more.
  • Grab a short video too. The photos are great, but a little video will create a more lasting memory!
