Let’s face it, when it comes to kid’s party ideas, the costs can add up quickly. Each family does it differently. For some, a party for kids is a must every year. Others offer a party every second year with a small celebration on the ‘off’ year. However you choose to do it in your family is up to you, but you can cut costs by not going all out every single year.
If you are looking for some other ways you can save, then here are some of our favourite inexpensive kids birthday party ideas to get you thinking:
- Shark Watermelon: how cute is this guy? If they’re in season, watermelon is not only delicious, but super cheap as well. This shark idea costs nothing! Simply grab a knife and get carving. It is so cute and kids will love it. You don’t need to be fancy to have fun.
- Hedgehog Cheese Dip: another adorable idea that costs you next to nothing. It’s simply a tasty dip that kids will love, shaped into a hedgehog. Forget those decorations, you can make the party table stand out by literally playing with your food! Decoration and food in one. Bonus!
- Print out some colouring in pages or buy a few books from Kmart. It’s cheap and it’s fun! Simply set up a table with colouring in pencils and paper and you have the easiest activity ever. Kids love to colour – even more so with friends around. You can even old a competition for the best picture with a prize for the winner (chosen by the birthday child!).
- Face paint: sure, you could go ahead and hire a professional face painter. If you can afford it, why not!? But, do you know what is just as fun? Giving kids their own face paints and letting them paint each other. It won’t look professional, but the kids will have a blast doing it and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
- Bubbles: kids of all ages love bubbles and they cost almost nothing. For the younger kids, you can set up a bubble machine for them to sit around and catch bubbles. Last but not least, you need to keep the kids entertained. It seems these days, many parents like to go a little overboard when it comes to the entertainment side of things.
